Antigonish and Pictou Counties contain many communities that are rich with history and community events. There is always something to take part in; you just need to figure out what is best for you. In Antigonish County, two schools have partnered with the community in order to open up the schools to the communities when they are not being used for school activities. This is through the Community Use of Schools is making it possible for many community groups to hold meetings and activities.

History:

Throughout the area there is a wide variety of museums and history centres that are available for visitation. As well, during different times of the year (mainly summer) special events are held. A list of these centres for your area can be found on 211 Nova Scotia under "Community and Cultural Services."

Digital collections of history for the area include NovaStory, which brings photographs and historical information from all over Nova Scotia together, and Imagine Antigonish, which presents heritage photos of Antigonish to illustrate conditions for community health.
