All About the Venue<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Accessibility by Design<\/mark><\/strong>: The Culture Hub has accessible entrances & exits, accessible washrooms, and other public spaces. Features include ramps, power door openers, a hearing loop, mobility devices to borrow, and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Location<\/mark><\/strong>: This year’s Conference will be held at the deCoste Culture Hub, 99 Water Street, Pictou<\/strong>. The Culture Hub is home to the Murray Family Public Library (Pictou Branch), deCoste Performing Arts Theatre, and Creative Pictou County Studio Space. <\/p>\n\n\n\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t<\/embed>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\n\n

Entrances<\/mark><\/strong>: There are two main entrances to the Library. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • The front entrance<\/strong> on Water Street will lead you directly to the library circulation desk (shared with the deCoste Theatre box office). <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • If you enter via the rear entrance<\/strong> in the Harbourside parking lot, it\u2019s a longer walk with several ramps\/stairs, but still a straight path up to Circulation. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Parking<\/mark><\/strong>: Street parking in Pictou is free, and the Culture Hub has two free parking lots<\/strong>: one behind the building (Harbourside, on the waterfront), and one on the right side of the building. An electric vehicle charging station is also available onsite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Washrooms<\/mark><\/strong>: All washrooms in the Pictou Library are single-occupancy & all-gender. Multi-stall, gender-segregated washroom facilities are available elsewhere in the Hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Conference Amenities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    ASL Interpreters Available<\/mark><\/strong> – ASL interpretation will be available for several sessions on Saturday, September 19th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Assistive Listening Supports<\/mark><\/strong> – A Hearing Loop is available in the Theatre Auditorium and at the Circulation Desk. Assistive Listening headsets are also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • No Telecoil? No problem! <\/strong>If you would like to access the hearing loop but do not have a hearing device with a telecoil, we have several hearing loop receivers with headphones available for attendees. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • How to Borrow a Hearing Assist Device<\/strong>: Head to the Registration Desk<\/strong> or contact Jes<\/strong> (our Accessibility Coordinator) to borrow an assistive hearing device, or to learn more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Transportation & Transit Service<\/mark> <\/strong>– Complimentary taxi transit will be available for conference attendees, travelling from local accommodations to the venue (Around Pictou town & to Pictou Lodge). Get your Conference Taxi Pass<\/strong> to cover the fare! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • To request a Taxi Pass<\/strong>, ask at the Registration Desk or contact us to arrange things.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Quiet Space<\/mark><\/strong> – A quiet, sensory-friendly space will be available for attendees to take a break. This space will have dimmer lighting, quiet activities, sensory & fidget toys available, and a calmer vibe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Mobility Aids<\/mark><\/strong> – A limited number of mobility aids are available to borrow, including a manual wheelchair and walker. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
