Charles MacLennan,
a nephew of Alexander MacKenzie, and the third principle shipbuilder in
the village was taken into MacKenzie's employment at some time during the
1840's. In 1856 he married MacKenzie's daughter Amelia. His name began
to appear on the registries of certain vessels launched from the MacKenzie
yard in the 1850's and early 60's, before he took over the business upon
Alexander's death in 1865. MacLennan ran the yard from 1865 to 1875.
