A fundamental part of the philosophy of public libraries states that all persons in a community shall have access to the best available reference and research materials with a qualified library employee to guide them through their search. We believe firmly in the difference between “a search” and “research.” Research is when a qualified person leads you through the process of collecting information to help you arrive at a more fulfilling understanding.
One of the most important roles of a public library is to help you find and choose information – we can help you find it online through one of our online “Rooms” full of specialized information. You’ll also find links to the online library catalogue to help you find books, videos and other materials that will aid your research, contact PARL reference staff to help you with your research, use our recommended informative links, and of course, access the GALE family of online databases (available only to PARL library cardholders).
