The tablet commemorates the arrival of Alexander Cameron 1728 - 1831. Born at Loch Broom, Scotland, he witnessed the Battle of Culloden April 16th, 1746 wherein two older brothers under their chief Lochiel fought for Bonnie Prince Charlie. He emigrated on the Hector in 1773 and named his grant Loch Broom. Here he lived out his years as a pioneer farmer who turned forest into farm. A respected figure typical of the many hundreds of clan Cameron and its septs who followed him to the new world. His descendants dwell across Canada and the United States.
