Your library card allows you to use all of our services, including public access computers. Use it to:

  • - check out books, library materials, magazines, DVDs, and more
  • - renew your checked out material online
  • - use online databases
How do I get a library card?

It’s easy – simply fill out a brief form at the nearest Library location or fill out our online Library card application form. Your card will be mailed to you within a few days by our staff. All information is strictly confidential and is used for public library purposes only.

Library cards are free, and you can use it as soon as you get it.

If you live in rural Pictou or Antigonish County you may wish to register for our Books By Mail service. Register here for Books by Mail.

How do kids get one?

If you are under 14, you must have your parent or legal guardian sign your library card application form.

What if I lose my card or it’s stolen?

You are responsible for any materials checked out on your card. Call us immediately if your card is lost (902) 755-6031 (toll free 1-866-779-7761).

PINs (Personal Identification Numbers)

Like most other cards, your library card comes with a PIN (Personal Identification Number). This is a 4-digit number of your choice. If you would like to change your PIN number you can call us, tell us your library card number, and we’ll change your PIN or you can login to Your Account and change your PIN.
